Here is what to expect in a comprehensive dental checkup with Smiles Bagan
Start Your Smile JourneyWe will ask you about anything that is bothering you about your mouth. This will direct how our first appointment goes.

A comprehensive dive into your medical background is essential when considering your oral health status. Please let us know of any medical conditions, past hospital visits, allergies, medications.

Collaboration between us, the dental team, and you are key in your oral health journey. We will give you information on the whats, whys, whens and hows on brushing and interdental cleaning, to equip you with the skills you need for long term maintenance.

Our dental practitioners are able to detect a multitude of oral conditions through a visual examination. As a supplement for hard to see areas such as in between your teeth and below your gums, x rays are a highly safe and efficient diagnostic tool.
Concerned about radiation doses? Talk to our dental clinicians who will ensure that you are eligible for radiographs and will help you minimise as much risk as possible (especially if you are pregnant or under 18 years old).

At the end of the collection of all relevant information, together we will be able to decide on your personalised treatment plan. It is a collaborative effort, curated with all your individual factors in mind. You will get a comprehensive understanding of all available treatment options, their benefits and risks, and costs as well. Please feel free to ask any questions you have and raise your concerns. Overall, we want to deliver an oral healthcare plan that is specialised for and is centred around you.

Many general health conditions such as diabetes and smoking history have an impact on how our team plans your dental treatments. It is crucial that you disclose a comprehensive medical history for us to keep them into consideration and deliver the most personalised dental care. All information is kept confidential in cybersecure systems. Additionally, the Smiles Bagan team is there for YOU and YOUR oral health and will continuously ensure a safe space for all oral health related discussions.
Radiographic evidence is an important piece of the puzzle when assessing an overall and focused view of your oral health. Our clinicians will recommend x-rays as necessary, backed by appropriate clinical rationale. Please raise any concerns you have, during the appointment and our clinicians will guide you through your discussion.
That is absolutely alright and we will encourage it or refer you to them if necessary. Dentistry is practiced collaboratively and while we strive to provide you with the most suitable dental treatments, options and advice, there will be occasions where transferring care to another clinician would place you at a better position towards achieving your smile goals and that is ok!
Every new patient at Smiles Bagan would first require an initial check up (either comprehensive – overall oral health or limited – focused on specific concern) with our clinicians before proceeding with treatment that is decided collaboratively with your goals and our clinicians’ expert advice.
